The Strick Trailer Corporation unveiled its latest dry-freight semi-trailer, the TF1 (The Tough One). The TF1 is a new sheet-and-post trailer design with an HDPE (high density polyethylene) lining and a full 100.5 inches of interior width.

"The TF1 is designed for the customer who seeks the durability and proven long life of a sheet-and-post trailer, requires an extra-wide interior and does not want to pay a high cost in either dollars or excess weight," said Ben Katz, Strick marketing manager.

Weighing only 13,700 pounds as a 53' van with its myriad standard features, the TF1 is one of the lightest trailers on the market with over 100 inches of interior width. The aluminum exterior sheets are protected on the inside by a tough HDPE lining that snaps in between galvanized steel logistic posts that are set as standard on 24-inch centers.

"The unique post design is what sets the TF1 apart from other trailers in the market," said Katz. "We chose a .625 inch deep hat-shaped post because it is the minimum depth required to provide the structural strength that we needed with the light weight and low cost that we sought. The post also provides a unique way of capturing the HDPE lining that allows us to keep the lining flat in all extremes of temperature."

HDPE lining sheets are the toughest material in any trailer and are designed and proven to withstand the rigors of forklift impact. Unlike traditional plywood linings, HDPE is a water resistant "earth-friendly" material made for Strick out of recycled plastic products. It has been developed in partnership with Strick's preferred vendor and is available in a white color that makes the trailer a brighter and safer place to operate.

Other features that set the TF1 apart include Stick's proven tension roof system that expands and contracts with temperature changes to keep the roof sheet tight in all weather. Also, unique to Strick is a split-wire harness system with separate grounded electrical lines that run down the curbside as well as the roadside of the trailer to minimize connection points and therefore potential shorts in the system.

The TF1 is available now in standard configurations for immediate delivery through a stock program maintained through Strick in conjunction with their dealers. It is also available with custom specifications through the Strick sales department or dealer network and a super lightweight 28' version will be available soon.
