The Hammond for Hope Foundation—whose board of directors includes Great Dane’s executive vice president of Sales, Chris Hammond, and his executive administrative assistant, Debra Arnold—has made a three-year commitment to funding two scholarships for Armstrong State University beginning in fall 2017.

These scholarships will be awarded annually to students working toward graduate degrees in the communication sciences and disorders program. In addition to the scholarships, the foundation made a one-time donation to the communication sciences and disorders department for a teaching resources kit.

Great Dane shares a special connection with the Hammond for Hope Foundation. Great Dane  hosts the annual Hammond for Hope charity auction and golf tournament.

“Hammond for Hope was founded by members of Great Dane’s management team 35 years ago to support education for children with hearing loss,” said Hammond. “As the foundation has continued to grow, we have been able to offer assistance in many different ways. These scholarships are part of our ongoing effort to assist those with hearing loss and communication disorders.”

The Hammond for Hope Foundation is also a dedicated supporter of the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center (SSHC) and its Sound Start program. In September 2016, SSHC kicked off a campaign to raise $900,000 to grow and improve the center with the Hammond for Hope auction and golf tournament hosted by Great Dane.

“Through the donations of Great Dane and its partners, the Hammond for Hope Foundation has expanded its assistance to members of the hearing impaired community throughout Georgia and South Carolina,” said Arnold.
