Results of a PowerTracker International survey provide an optimistic view on the outlook for power generation sales in 2014. The surveys were conducted across several countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Ukraine, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and Russia. The results indicate that sales of generator sets will increase in 2014.Distributors and dealers surveyed forecast a range between 7% to 19% across different power bands. The highest Distributor and Dealer growth estimates are from Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, Modest growth in the Middle East and marginal activity in Western Europe.The top brands sold across the three regions in 2013 include: Cummins/Onan, Perkins, SDMO, Honda and FG Wilson. The market overall remains fragmented with over 147 generator brand names mentioned.Distributors were less optimistic on the penetration of natural gas engines although the results highlight some penetration in Western Europe, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. 59% of generator sets sold by distributors were Diesel powered engines.
