A 108,000-sq-ft shop is home of Semi Service Inc, a truck equipment distributor and trailer dealer in Salt Lake City UT.
Semi Service kicked off snow season last fall with an open house.
Semi Service converted this Batmobile to run on compressed natural gas. Even the guns, raised electrically from their recessed storage areas, fire (and explode) using CNG.
The company’s snowplow open house featured displays by its major suppliers of snow and ice control equipment.
Suppliers sent representatives to help answer customer questions.
In addition to converting vehicles to burn natural gas, Semi Service provides customers with a place to refuel.
The facility houses two separate shops. Truck equipment is on this side of the building, with a trailer shop at a right angle from the truck equipment shop. The parts operation is between the two shops.
A 16-acre site provides ample space for inventory.
A concrete pad mounted on top of a berm offers a place to display trucks or trailers.
An antique White Motor truck (along with the handiwork of a local taxidermist) gives the lobby a distinct look.
Display area includes a variety of parts department specials.
The only parts counter in the building serves retail customers. The truck equipment shop and the trailer shop both use parts runners to deliver the needed components to the service bays so that technicians can remain on the job.
Customers can wait comfortably here in this lounge equipped with big screen television.
The truck equipment shop only has two traditional service bays, but its car-dealer shop layout can accommodate 34 trucks.
One section of the truck equipment shop is dedicated to installation of bodies and equipment on Class 8 trucks.
Semi Service operates Ram, Chevrolet, Ford and GMC chassis pools.
The trailer shop has 22 service bays.
The shop has a shear and press brake to fabricate parts required for repair work.
Semi Service is an authorized tank repair facility, both at the main shop shown here and a separate location near refineries 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.
Racks provide convenient storage for items that are otherwise awkward to store and handle.
President Marty Seelos, left, started Semi Service in 1972. Mike Anderson is his vice-president.
Semi Service maintains a large inventory of new and used trailers.
