Medium and Heavy Truck Sales Up 8% in November

Medium and heavy truck sales were up 8% in November over the same period a year ago and down 13% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.

Dealers sold 52,340 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from November 2013 (48,477) and down from October 2014 (60,442).

Compared with November 2013, Class 8 trucks were up 15% (16,706, compared to 14,511). Class 7 sales were 3,721, up 5% from 3,529.

For the year, truck dealers have sold 598,390 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 10% from 543,180 in 2013. Class 8 sales have been 198,026, a 19% increase from the same period last year (16,089). Class 7 sales have been up 13% (48,881, compared to 43,252).

Total sales of all classes have been up 10%, from 7,522,378 to 8,270,045.

Every class has been up. Other than Class 8, the biggest increase has been in Class 4 (16%).
