Medium and heavy truck sales were up 11% in May over the same period a year ago and up 4% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.
Dealers sold 62,131 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from May 2014 (56,045) and April 2015 (59,796).
Compared with May 2014, Class 8 trucks were up 20% (21,501, compared to 17,990). Class 7 sales were 4,101, just under 4,118.
For the year, truck dealers have sold 281,203 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 10% from 253,113 in 2014. Class 8 sales have been 97,819, a 22% increase from the same period last year (80,417). Class 7 sales have been up 10% (21,002, compared to 19,502).
Total sales of all classes have been up 10%, from 3,650,253 to 4,007,727.
Every class has been up, except for Class 6. The biggest increase, other than Class 8, has been in Class 1 (11%).
