EU Commercial Vehicle Market Increases 10% in March

Demand for new commercial vehicles in the EU increased for the third consecutive month (20.7%) in March, marking the highest monthly growth since December 2013 and totaling 223,749 units, according to according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

Growth was sustained across all segments of commercial vehicles.

Spain (+67.6%), the UK (+25.6%), Germany (+13.1%), France (+11.1%) and Italy (+10.2%) led.

In the first quarter of 2015, the EU market expanded by 13.3%, with 502,210 CVs.

New Heavy Commercial Vehicles over 16t

March 2015 results showed a 27.9% increase in new heavy truck registrations.

There were a total of 24,649 units.

This positive outcome was mainly sustained by the growth recorded in the UK (+77.6%).

New Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles over 3.5t

In March 2015, 30,603 new trucks were registered in the EU.

That was 21.2% more than in March 2014. 

The UK (+55.6%), Italy (+42.7%), Spain (+36.3%) and France (+14.9%) led.

New Buses & Coaches over 3.5t

New bus and coach registrations increased (+33.1%) compared to March 2014. 

This was also  due to the growth in new EU member states (+33.6%). 

From January to March 2015, the EU market increased by 24.5%.

Demand was driven by Spain (+94.6%), the UK (+30.1%) and Italy (+15.6%).

New Light Commercial Vehicles up to 3.5t 

March 2015 results showed a 27.9% increase in new heavy truck registrations.

This was mainly sustained by the UK (+77.6%) and Spain.

New EU member states were up 34.4%.
