Preliminary data shows Class 8 truck net orders were 25,960 units in October, a 14% increase over last October, according to FTR Associates.

That represented a 39% gain over September and was the highest order total since December 2011. Orders for the three-month period including October annualize to 244,500 units. Preliminary order numbers are for all major North American OEMs.

“The increase in orders is broad-based and not isolated to any one OEM,” said Don Ake, FTR Vice President. “The number is at the high end of our expectations and will likely help to solidify build activity in the short term.  The three-month annualized rate is right in line with our 2014 forecast.”

Final data for October will be available from FTR later in the month as part of its North American Commercial Truck & Trailer Outlook service. To contact FTR, send an email to [email protected]or call (888) 988-1699 ext. 1.
