SPEAKERS at the 59th annual Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association Convention were in agreement: times are tough now, but good things are coming.
The event, held May 16-20 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida, featured presentations by Dr Lawrence Chimerine, Radnor Consulting; Nick Panza, vice-president for Peterbilt Motors; and Peter Toja, Economic Planning Associates. Despite different backgrounds and perspectives, the speakers described a challenging present and an exciting future.
The association also elected a new slate of officers. Brian Ling, Reliance Trailer Manufacturing in Cotati, California, was selected chairman of the board. He assumes the chairmanship from Tom Spencer, chief executive officer for John Evans Manufacturing Company.
Norm Hutchinson, Hutchinson Industries, was chosen to serve as vice-chairman. Hutchinson Industries is located in Toronto, Ontario.
Ling and Hutchinson will serve the association until the next convention. TTMA's 60th convention will be held at the Westin LaPaloma in Tucson, Arizona.
