Structural Metal Fabricators, Inc. (SMF) has relocated to a larger, newly constructed facility at 1226 Little Gap Road in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. The 43-acre site includes a 40,000-sq-ft office and plant building as well as parking for more than 250 truck chassis.

The SMF facility was constructed over a period of one year ended in July. The company has completed relocation from its former Northampton site and the new facility is now in full operation. It features expanded, state-of-the-art capabilities for the company's four divisions: truck bodies and equipment for utility fleets; metal fabrication; field maintenance and installation; and contracted field services.

There are also larger departments for truck equipment service and repair, hydraulic pull testing, and a 15' x 15' x 60' heated down draft paint booth. Opening soon at the site will be a retail store for commercial-grade truck parts and accessories.

Said Guy S. Seifert, SMF president, "This expansion allows us to better serve our many industrial, municipal and commercial customers in the Lehigh Valley and beyond. We have also increased our product capabilities for equipment fleets of our telecommunications customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Our new location is easily accessed, as we just minutes away from the Lehighton/Mahoning Valley Exit (#74) of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike."

An Open House at the new SMF location will be held October 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. SMF customers, including representatives from municipalities and business, as well as interested members of the public are welcome to attend. The event will include equipment displays, plant tours and demonstrations. There will be door prizes and refreshments will be served.
