Oshkosh Corporation announced that its access equipment subsidiary, JLG Industries, Inc., the world's leading producer of access equipment, was awarded a delivery order valued at $24.7 million for 197 JLG Millennia Military Vehicle (MMV) telescopic material handlers for the U.S. Navy. The order was awarded by the Defense Supply Center of Philadelphia.

"Oshkosh Corporation continues to support the military efforts through our industry-leading brands. This contract for additional JLG MMV telehandlers will provide the U.S. Navy Seabees Construction Battalion with essential equipment to perform their duties with greater safety, performance and comfort," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer.

Since 2001, more than 800 MMVs have been deployed to the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy. In addition to combat operations, the MMV has been used in relief efforts after the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The MMV telehandler features a maximum load capacity of 11,000 pounds and a Load Moment Indicator system to inform the operator of the capacity limit. The MMV can operate in climates ranging from minus 25 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Three steering modes provide for greater maneuverability, and the 110-hp Cummins engine supplies improved power for off-road mobility. The availability of multiple attachments such as various fork configurations, a utility bucket, and fork-rollers provide added versatility, and the Quick Attach system allows carriage changes in less than 10 minutes.
