NTEA Panelists to Highlight Guideposts on the Road to Quality

Can you confidently assure your suppliers and customers of the quality of your products and services? "Guideposts on the Road to Quality-A Member Panel Discussion" will be held from 8 am to noon on Friday, February 26. NTEA members will discuss the practical steps they have taken in implementing quality processes and improving results. A question-and-answer period and open discussion will conclude the program.

Panelists are Phil Petit, engineering manager, NBC Truck Equipment Inc; Mike Tracy, service manager, Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment Co; and Rob Parkhurst, president, Parkhurst Mfg Co. Jim Carney, NTEA Executive Director, will moderate the panel.

Petit is responsible for the quality program at NBC Truck Equipment. This includes the quality aspect of vehicles during design and quality control during production, as well as final quality inspection. He is also responsible for FMVSS compliance and continuous improvement of the quality processes. Since arriving at NBC in 1981, he has held a variety of positions in installation, sales, service, and operations. Petit received his BSME from Lawrence Technological University in 1994. He attended the Truck Equipment College Supervisory Skills Course and the Quality Processes Workshop.

Mike Tracy manages production in the mounting and fabrication shops at Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment. He is responsible for quality improvement and scheduling in all work areas. Tracy started with Kaffenbarger in 1973 as a welder/mechanic. In 1993 he was promoted to a supervisory position, overseeing job set-ups, training, and quality inspections. Tracy recently participated in the Truck Equipment College supervisory skills course.

Rob Parkhurst is a third generation family member at Parkhurst Manufacturing. He began working full time at Parkhurst in 1989, was plant manager for their military products plant, and was elected president in 1991. He successfully implemented ISO 9002 into his company in 1997. Parkhurst has a BS degree from Central Missouri State University and is a member of the NTEA Young Executives Network Steering Committee.
