Kentucky Manufacturing Company today announced the acquisition of Trailer Technologies, Inc, a leading manufacturer of custom transport, exhibit and specialty trailers located in Walled Lake, Michigan. Larry Hartog, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kentucky Manufacturing Co made the announcement. Established in 1991, Trailer Technologies specializes in designing and building enclosed automobile transport trailers and customized expandable trailers used for mobile exhibiting, military applications, and mobile marketing tours. The company's exhibit trailers are used in some of the most visible mobile marketing campaigns on the road today, including customers such as Fujifilm, Ford Motor Company, Boeing, Smithfield Foods, International Truck & Engine, Symbol Technologies and many more.Kentucky Manufacturing Co is one of the most recognizable brand names in the custom trailer manufacturing business. Established in 1936, Kentucky Manufacturing began by building a wide variety of truck trailers. By the mid 1960's, Kentucky Manufacturing was building "drop frame" trailer systems which have become a staple in the moving industry. The company then began to expand into other markets where the drop frame design was needed. The "drop frame" design means that the belly of the trailer remains low to the ground, therefore, providing easier loading access and more space inside the trailer. This "drop frame" design was also ideal for Trailer Technologies' custom auto transport and mobile exhibit trailers. Trailer Technologies often uses a Kentucky trailer as the shell for building custom walk-through exhibit trailers.Commenting on the acquisition, Hartog states, "This acquisition was the next logical step in our growth and expansion process. In Trailer Technologies, we saw the perfect fit for taking our services to the next level. The coupling of Trailer Technologies' expertise in the mobile exhibit and automobile transport marketplace with our existing capabilities, provides our customers a full selection of customized trailers and helps ensure our leadership in the custom trailer manufacturing industry."Operations will remain at the Trailer Technologies facility in Walled Lake, Michigan. Among the many areas of expansion in and around its facilities in Louisville, this is Kentucky Manufacturing Co's first expansion outside the state of Kentucky.
