Representatives of Venco/Venturo Mfg Div of Collins Associates Co were among the 160,827 visitors — including 6,582 from outside Italy — who attended Salone Internazionale dell Industrializzazione Edilizia (SAIE), the international construction show held Oct 16-20, 2002, in Bologna, Italy.
“All major manufacturers exhibit in this yearly exhibition, says Ron Collins, president of Collins Associates. The event is analogous to the International Construction and Utility Equipment Exhibition (ICUEE) held every two years in Louisville KY.
Collins' objective in attending was to learn about the engineering and manufacturing of articulating cranes in Europe.
“The manufacturing process is far different than in the United States,” Collins says. “Most manufacturers outsource the manufacturing of the components. Their expertise is in the engineering, assembly and technical support they offer as well as the marketing and sales of the product on a worldwide basis.”
