Hino Motors Manufacturing unveiled its 2011 model-year truck at the assembly plant in Williamstown, West Virginia, in a ceremony attended by Hino executives, Gov. Joe Manchin, Senate President Earl Ray Tomblin, U.S. Sen. Carte Goodwin and other state and local officials.
Hino's 2011 model truck features a number of external design changes and complies with new EPA emissions regulations.
"Our 2011 truck is the only medium-duty conventional truck to meet the EPA requirements without the use of emission credits," said Sumio Fukyaha, chairman of Hino, in a story in the Charleston Advertiser. "The 2011 truck is selling well ahead of our initial forecasts."
According to the Advertiser, Hino last year secured a contract to supply 175 maintenance and snowplow trucks to the state Department of Highways, and has delivered 90 trucks to the state.
Hino hopes to double production by the end of 2011 at the plant, which has about 100 full-time workers.
