European Commercial Vehicles Up 13.2% in June

New registrations rose in June for all segments of commercial vehicles in Europe, resulting in a total of 166,929 for an overall 13.2% increase, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA)

New registrations rose in June for all segments of commercial vehicles in Europe, resulting in a total of 166,929 for an overall 13.2% increase, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

Over the first half-year, the market expanded by 4.3%, with 887,862 new commercial vehicles, mainly lifted by an 8% increase in vans.

The segment of heavy trucks expanded by 17.3%, with 14,843 new vehicles registered, marking the first increase in two years. Of the main markets, the UK was the only one to decline (2.9%), while increases were seen in Germany (43.7%), Italy (9.9%) and France (0.9). Over the first six months, 75,977 new heavy trucks were recorded, or 15.9% less than in 2009. Spain was the only one to grow (8.2%).
