The average price for a gallon of diesel nationally went up 0.3 cents to $2.621 for the week ending December 10, according to the Energy Information Administration.

The Midwest had the biggest drop -- down 1.5 cents to $2.563 - while the biggest increase was in California -- up 10.3 cents to $2.963, making it the most expensive region. The Gulf Coast region, even after a 0.3-cent increase, had the lowest price at $2.54.
