Diesel continues its price drop

For the sixth straight week, the average national price for a gallon of diesel fell - this time by 11.8 cents, to $2.59.5, for the week ending Sept. 24, according to the Energy Information Administration

That price represents a 20.3-cent drop from the average price during the same week last year.

The largest drop came in the Rocky Mountain region -- 22.5 cents, to $2.827, which means the region relinquishes the label of most expensive to California, which is at $2.91 after a 9.2-cent decrease. The cheapest region was the Midwest, at $2.506, after dropping 11.8 cents.
