Terex reveals all-electric mini mixer

June 2, 2023
Terex Advance's all-electric option is available on the Terex Advance Mini-Mix range, which is good for short-loads or smaller surface areas.

Terex Advance introduced its first all-electric mixer at CONEXPO. The all-electric option is available on the Terex Advance Mini-Mix range, which was launched in 2022 to support ready mixer producers and contractors with a small volume mixer for short-loads or tight spaces.

“This is the first of our foray into zero-emission concrete mixer trucks as we strive to reduce our carbon footprint and provide highly efficient concrete delivery trucks to support the growing needs of our expanding customer base,” said Dave Grabner, general manager of Terex Advance.

Much like the system earlier introduced by Terex Utilities for the electric bucket truck, Terex Advance has combined Viatec SmartPTO technology with International eMV Series electric chassis from Navistar to bring the electric concrete delivery system to market.

“Navistar is committed to a zero-emission future, and we proudly support Terex in their leadership of electric vehicle adoption,” said Debbie Shust, Vice President, Medium Duty Truck Business, Navistar. “This partnership demonstrates the success of collaboration and technology integration in the vocational space to provide an electric concrete mixer that offers customers the performance they need while they work to meet their own sustainability goals."

As configured on a 33,000 GVWR International eMV Series electric chassis, the barrel carrying capacity 3 cu. yd. of concrete. Coupled with the Viatec SmartPTO, this provides an approximate 135-mile range and up to two pour cycles between charges.

“Not only does our electric mini mixer produce zero carbon emissions, but it also operates at a very low noise level,” Grabner said. “Terex is proud to be a leader with EVs in the utilities and construction markets. Our all-electric products are prime examples of how our future product road maps will provide alternative energy options in support of the sustainability goals of our customers and the communities in which our equipment operate.”

Diverse Portfolio

Terex Materials Processing also presented its diverse portfolio representing the aggregates, environmental, concrete, material handling and lifting industries at the show, and emphasized sustainability and making a positive impact through product innovation and environmental stewardship.

Indeed, 60% of Terex MP’s product offering now have electric options, which not only supports its aggressive Environmental Social Governance (ESG) program on a global basis, but helps customers achieve their own ESG objectives.

Besides electrification, Terex MP is focused on operating its businesses in an environmentally friendly way and on growing its environmental processing equipment offering—one of the segment’s fastest-growing areas, in support of the economy.

“The demands of our customers are constantly evolving and meeting their needs with a sustainable approach has been a core value of Terex,” said Kieran Hegarty, President, Terex Materials Processing. “Our latest product innovations support the circular economy, reduce GHG emissions and offer alternative energy sources with electric and hybrid options. This supports our customers in reducing carbon footprint globally.”

Terex has committed to 15% reduction in GHG emissions in its operations, and 15% reduction in global energy intensity by 2024, the company reported.
