The Detroit Historical Museum is exhibiting a large display of memorabilia from the heyday of Fruehauf Trailer, and a 1916 Fruehauf semi-trailer that was built using the blacksmith tools of that time is on display at the nearby Piquette Street plant where Henry Ford once produced Model T cars.

Former Fruehauf employees will be visiting these two facilities this summer during a reunion June 10-12.  A slide presentation at the Piquette Street Plant by Ruth Fruehauf, daughter of Roy Fruehauf, will feature many of the company’s inventions, product developments and manufacturing techniques.

Another highlight of this event is a tour of the original Fruehauf world headquarters at 10900 Harper Avenue, now occupied by PVS Chemicals, Inc.  On June 10, a group luncheon is being hosted by PVS’ Jim Nicholson and his sons for the “Homecoming” group of trailer veterans.

Friday evening the group will meet for dinner at Sindbad’s restaurant overlooking the Detroit River. A plentiful buffet style spread in the upper level “Sohar” room with a cash bar will be the setting for a few hours of reminiscing,

A special tour of The Henry Ford Greenfield Village Museum will take place on Sunday morning with a docent guiding visitors through sections of particular interest in the huge museum complex.
