Commercial trucks continued selling briskly in August, according to figures compiled by Wards Information Products, a sister company of Trailer/Body Builders.
Dealers sold 61,021 trucks with gross vehicle weight ratings above 10,000 pounds in August, up 22% from August 2013. Class 8 trucks (GVW ratings above 33,000 pounds) led the way with a 28% increase.
Through the first eight months of 2014, dealers sold 428,022 trucks rated above 10,000 pounds GVW, 9% more than the corresponding period of 2013. Class 4 models were up 22%. Class 8s were right behind with a 19% increase year-over-year.
