There’s a new long-hood aspirational truck in town, and it’s the Kenworth W990. The W990 made its show debut at MATS, with three customers displaying their W990s at the 30th annual Paul K. Young (PKY) Truck Beauty Championship.

“This is just the beginning for the Kenworth W990’s presence at truck beauty contests,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director. “As a truck designed to maximize performance in over-the-road and vocational applications, I look forward to seeing our customers creativity shine through their customized W990s at future truck shows.”

Indeed, three Kenworth customers earned all-expense paid trips for two to visit the Kenworth Chillicothe assembly plant in Ohio, after winning the inaugural “Top Three Kenworths in the Show” competition. Kenworth was the exclusive truck OEM sponsor for this year’s PKY championship, which is named for MATS founder Paul K. Young.

The Top Three Kenworths in Show included two custom built Kenworth W900Ls and a W900. In addition to the trip, the winners received a Kenworth trophy and a $3,000 gift certificate from PACCAR Parts.

“We had an excellent turnout, and there were many impressive Kenworths featured in the PKY Truck Beauty Championship this year,” said Swihart. “You could tell that our Top Three Kenworths in the Show winning owners invested a great deal of time and effort to each showcase a Kenworth truck that stood out against the rest of the competition.”
