Medium and heavy truck sales were up 19% in June over the same period a year ago and up 5% from the previous month, according to figures compiled by Wards Communications.
Dealers sold 65,497 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds during the month, up from June 2014 (54,990) and May 2015 (62,131).
Compared with June 2014, Class 8 trucks were up 31% (25,369, compared to 19,373). Class 7 sales were 5,213, up 19% from the 4,373.
For the year, truck dealers have sold 346,700 trucks with GVW ratings above 10,000 pounds, up 13% from 308,103 in 2014. Class 8 sales have been 123,188, a 23% increase from the same period last year (99,790). Class 7 sales have been up 10% (26,215, compared to 23,875).
Total sales of all classes have been up 13%, from 4,414,833 to 4,861,199.
Every class has been up. Other than Class 8, the biggest increase has been in Class 1 (12%).
