The first new generation Volvo VN tractor left the New River Valley Assembly Plant in Dublin, VA, on Nov. 14, for delivery to a waiting customer, less than three months after its introduction to the North American trucking industry. The first new VN, a VNL670 complete with an EPA'02-compliant engine, will enter fleet operation in the next few weeks. The new Volvo VN was introduced in mid-August. Since then, Volvo Trucks North America has quickly moved from pre-production assembly to series production of customer vehicles at NRV; regular production of the new VN began Nov. 6. Volvo has received more than 3,400 orders for the new VN since its introduction.
