For the second straight week, the national average price for a gallon of diesel dropped—this time by 0.6 cents to $2.882 for the week ending May 28, according to the Energy Information Administration.
The Rocky Mountain region wasn’t that fortunate—the price increased two cents to $3.044. California is still the most expensive region in which to fill up, even though it experienced a 0.7-cent drop to $3.227.
The biggest decrease came in New England, where the price dropped 1.6 cents to $2.966. The Gulf Coast region, with a 0.3-cent decline to $2.798, remained the lowest-priced region.
