THE September 11 terrorist attacks apparently haven't dampened the commitment and enthusiasm of The Work Truck Show's traditional exhibitors.
Over 400 companies are expected to exhibit their latest wares at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. As Trailer Body/Builders went to print in mid-January, the NTEA had confirmed 409 exhibitors and 151,200 sq ft of exhibit space and was expecting the numbers to approach or exceed those from Baltimore last year (429 exhibitors, 167,000 sq ft of exhibit space). Just as in Baltimore, 34 of the exhibitors are headquartered outside the United States.
“What people will experience in Orlando will be similar in size and scope to Baltimore,” said Steve Carey, NTEA meetings and member services director. “We still have the support of major exhibitors. We haven't seen any cancellations because of September 11. We're expecting a very big show with the same type of quality educational programs. Will it be bigger? That's something we can't say. But we're tracking at the same level as last year.”
The Orange County Convention Center is the largest venue ever to host the NTEA's show.
The NTEA is expecting some major news stories as suppliers show off their latest product, service, and technology developments. For example, General Motors will launch the latest addition to its extensive commercial vehicle lineup at a press conference Tuesday, March 5 (watch your mail for an official invitation). The company says the new vehicle features “never-seen-before innovations designed to help any commercial user get the job done right.”
Several other exhibitors already have scheduled on-site press conferences. More than 30 are participating in the collaborative New Product Showcase Press Conference, including Chelsea Products Division of Parker, Sherwin Williams Co., and Vulcan On-Board Scales. The New Product Showcase Press Conference provides the opportunity to get information on the latest product innovations from dozens of companies in one fell swoop. Products planned for introduction include hitches, lamps, PTOs, lift gates, and air compressor systems.
