The first new-generation Volvo VN tractor left the New River Valley Assembly Plant in Dublin VA for delivery to a waiting customer Nov 14, 2002, less than three months after its introduction to the North American trucking industry. The first new VN, a VNL670 complete with an EPA 2002-compliant engine, will enter fleet operation in the coming weeks.
Since the mid-August introduction, Volvo Trucks North America has moved from pre-production assembly to series production of customer vehicles at NRV; regular production of the VN began November 6. Volvo has received more than 3,400 orders for this tractor since its introduction.
