Thomasville, NC-based LTL carrier Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) is finalizing its acquisition of regional LTL operator Wichita Southeast Kansas Transit (WSKT) of Parsons, KS. The acquisition is part of ODFL's announced plan to create a multi-regional LTL network across the lower 48 U.S. states.
"We intend to combine WSKT's 43 service center operations in 10 states and its entire route structure with Old Dominion's network of 139 service centers, increasing our company's network to 149 service centers," said Earl Congdon, ODFL's chairman & CEO.
Congdon said WSKT produced revenue of approximately $68 million for its 2004 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, and will help OFL improve its current service offerings in the Midwest and South Central regions of the U.S., as well as its inter-regional capabilities.
"This will help our growth and service strategy ... of building a world-class multi-regional and inter-regional network," he added. "We have an extensive history of successfully completing and integrating strategic acquisitions, and we have the financial strength to pursue appropriate transactions aggressively. As a result, we will continue to evaluate additional transactions that meet our acquisition criteria."
