The American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reached a joint lobbying accord June 26, 2003, with ATA agreeing not to seek federal permission to run heavier trucks for at least six years.
In a joint announcement, the trade groups said they plan to promote mutually beneficial issues such as increasing security, expediting border-crossing clearance, and expanding intermodal truck-rail terminals.
