For the seventh straight week, the average national price for a gallon of diesel fell -- this time by 4.9 cents, to $2.54.6, for the week ending Oct. 1, according to the Energy Information Administration
The decline was experienced in all regions, with the biggest in the Rocky Mountain region, where prices fell 14.8 cents to $2.679. The smallest decline came in the Lower Atlantic region -- 2.3 cents to $2.503.
The cheapest region is the Midwest at $2.467. California remained the most expensive region, despite of a 7.5-cent drop to $2.835.
