UK commercial vehicle registrations in 2005 were 385,969 units—or 1%–over 2004, according to recent figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Figures for December show registrations for the month down 6% over same period last year. Overall the SMMT says total CV growth is past its recent peak, but heavy trucks continue to do well.
“Commercial vehicle registrations in 2005 just missed the record set in 2004,” said Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. “But the total is still one of the highest for many years and increasing domestic and Eurozone business confidence suggests that 2006 will be another good year for the industry.”
