Webb Wheel reorganizes into separate units

Apr 1, 2005 12:00 PM

Webb Wheel Products has been reorganized into separate business units targeting OEM business, the aftermarket, and the transit industry.

The OEM Trailer business, headed by Kent Finkbiner, president, is operated from a new manufacturing facility in Tell City IN. This 100,000-square-foot plant and office complex, opened in first quarter 2005, is equipped with CNC machining cells designed for maximum output of hubs and drums.

Under development at Webb and headed by Ed Wentz, the OEM Truck business will be temporarily served and supported from the new Tell City location. A separate, stand-alone OEM Truck facility is planned to open in 2006.

Webb has converted and updated its plant in Cullman AL to a dedicated aftermarket product machining and support facility. New CNC machining, robotic, balancing, and coating equipment has been purchased and installed. The Aftermarket Business Unit, headed by Mike Canada as president, will now be in a position to concentrate on aftermarket requirements for its products regardless of the level of industry OE demand.

Webb's Transit Drum Business Unit has been established to concentrate on requirements of the transit industry and has moved into a new facility in Cullman. The facility is equipped with new machinery designed to manufacture large brake drums for transit vehicles. Jason Gerding has been named president of this business unit.
