Rush delivers hybrid truck to food bank

Feb 1, 2009 12:00 PM

Rush Truck Center in Tucson AZ has delivered one of the first Peterbilt production hybrid diesel electric trucks to the local Community Food Bank.

The 2009 Class 7 Model 335 uses Eaton's Hybrid Electric Power System with an electric motor that assists the Paccar PX-6 engine with supplemental torque for improved fuel economy, as well as reduced emissions and noise. The system stores energy during stopping through a process called regenerative braking, and then reuses it for acceleration.

The truck, also equipped with a 20-foot Morgan body, Carrier Supra 750 refrigeration system, and an Interlift liftgate, will be used for picking up food donations from retail locations.
