Webb Wheel opens OEM truck facility

Sep 23, 2005 4:53 PM

The OEM Truck Business Unit of Webb Wheel Products, Inc. has opened a facility dedicated to meeting the wheel end demands of the medium- and heavy-duty truck industry. The facility, located in Cullman, AL, was chosen so that the company could immediately address some of the product availability and material issues facing truck manufacturers today.

As a wheel end supplier to the heavy-duty industry and recognizing the exceedingly strong demand for truck components, Webb Wheel decided to take advantage of an experienced work force at a current Webb facility rather than face delays likely with a start up site.

"The current and near term demand for wheel end products is so strong at the moment, it didn't seem wise to us to wait to establish this business unit when we had this facility available to us,” said Ed Wentz, President OEM Truck Business Unit. "The truck OEM's need the capacity now, not years from now."

As part of the market focus reorganization undertaken by Webb Wheel Products, the OEM Truck Business Unit will function autonomously concentrating resources and equipment to meet the demands of OE truck manufacturers. The plant will manufacture hubs, drums and rotors.
