Hybrid reefer stays plugged in

Carrier Transicold, a United Technologies Company, is touting the fuel savings benefits of the electric standby feature of its Vector 1800MT reefer unit.

The Vector 1800MT, which uses Deltek hybrid diesel-electric technology, allows a parked unit to be plugged into an AC power source to eliminate the need to run the diesel motor. According to Carrier, a 460-volt standby capability is built into every unit.
