Feb 19, 2009 1:41 PM

Waltco Truck Equipment Co. president and former National Truck Equipment Association president Rod Robinson announced his retirement from the liftgate and hydraulic cylinder manufacturer, effective March 6.

His successor is Michael Militello, president of Ultron, a liftgate manufacturer also owned by Waltco’s parent company, Cargotec.

Robinson’s career with Waltco spans 37 years, including 22 years as president. He began as a sales representative, advancing to various sales positions until he became vice president of Sales and Eastern Operations. He was named president in 1986.

An industry leader, Robinson was NTEA president from 2004-2005, and served on the NTEA board from 1999-2005. He was also a member of the Young Presidents Organization, a national group of company presidents under age 40.

In addition, he chaired the Akron Labor and Management Prayer Breakfast, which provided an opportunity to strengthen labor and management relationships, and earned Robinson special recognition.
