Kit from AMD assists in spec'ing Star-of-Life ambulances

The Ambulance Manufacturers Division (AMD) of the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) has released its new federal specification for the Star-of-Life ambulance (KKK-A-1822E) kit, with information that ambulance purchasers, manufacturers, and contractors need to ensure that each vehicle meets federal specifications for the Star-of-Life ambulance.
The Star-of-Life designation confirms a vehicle has met minimum specifications, test parameters, and criteria for design, performance, equipment, and appearance. The spiral-bound kit features:
General Services Administration (GSA) cover letter for KKK-A-1822E, which supersedes KKK-A-1822D dated Nov 1, 1994, and includes changes intended to provide a more reliable, functional, and safer ambulance.
Revision D to E Comparison outlines changes made in the Federal Specification for Ambulances (KKK-A-1822).
Conditions for Transfer of Certification from KKK-A-1822D to KKK-A-1822E outlines conditions and requirements necessary for the transfer of test data between any two ambulances produced by the same manufacturer and tested for certification to Federal Procurement Specification KKK-A-1822.
AMD Standards 001 — 015 are those by which all newly manufactured ambulances must conform. These standards are cited in and required by KKK-A-1822E.
