Heil Environmental consolidates production

Jun 1, 2003 12:00 PM

Heil Environmental Industries Ltd has integrated all of its North American refuse collection vehicle manufacturing operations into its flagship Fort Payne AL facility. As a result of this decision, Heil's Phoenix AZ manufacturing facility will close in August 2003.

Although closing the Phoenix manufacturing facility will mean that some employees there will lose their jobs, it will help sustain jobs throughout the rest of the organization.

Heil Arizona, a company-owned distributorship, will continue to serve customers from its Phoenix location. It offers new and used Heil refuse collection vehicles, Heil-certified OEM parts, competitive Parts Inc aftermarket parts, and maintenance service. Heil's western sales and support operation also will not be affected by the closing.

After integrating the Phoenix production volume, the Fort Payne facility will still have adequate capacity to manage future growth, even without additional physical plant expansion. All engineering, prototyping, and tooling has been completed, and no products will be discontinued as a result of the integration.
