Godwin Mfg purchases R/S Truck Body Co

Godwin Mfg Co Inc of Dunn NC is the new owner of Allen KY-based R/S Truck Body Co Inc. Formerly a division of Standard Automotive, R/S was acquired by Godwin through an auction process in mid-July 2002 after bankruptcy proceedings against Standard Automotive.
“After a review of the company and extensive meetings with Charles Collins, president of R/S for 30 years, I could see immediately that R/S was — and is — a very profitable company,” said Pat Godwin Sr, company founder and chief executive officer.
R/S produces dump bodies and trailers. Steel and aluminum products are available as are a range of shapes, sizes, and options. Currently, the company employs 155 people and occupies a 140,000-square foot manufacturing facility situated on 24 acres with room to expand.
R/S will become the call and service center for both companies, and Godwin will set up a distribution point for R/S at the main facility in Dunn.
