Saulsbury starts production in Florida

Feb 10, 2005 6:10 PM

Saulsbury announced that it is building stainless steel fire and rescue apparatus at its Ocala, Fla., plant. The first units are in the final stages of construction and will be delivered soon.

The transfer of personnel, equipment and orders from New York to Florida is on schedule, and the company expects to ramp up production over the coming months. Production line and shop floor space has been dedicated exclusively to building Saulsbury apparatus, while the specialized equipment used in the New York facility has been installed and is fully operational in Ocala. Many of the skilled craftspeople from New York have relocated to Florida to form the core of the production workforce, and Saulsbury has retained its key engineering resources.

Bill Carroll, general manager of the Saulsbury operation in New York, helped coordinate the move to Florida and is now responsible for production at the Ocala plant.

"We are using the same stainless steel materials, the same formed metal construction methods and the same attention to detail that has made Saulsbury a highly respected apparatus manufacturer," says Carroll. "Products coming out of the Ocala plant have the same superior form, fit and function that our customers expect."

The Saulsbury product line will initially include heavy rescues, pumpers and rescue pumpers.
