Wabash Launches New Aerodynamic Device For Trailers

Wabash National Corporation (NYSE: WNC) announced that its DuraPlate Products Group has launched the DuraPlate AeroSkirt, an innovative new aerodynamic accessory for semi-trailers. Testing has verified that a trailer equipped with the DuraPlate AeroSkirt can provide 5.6% of fuel savings and a 6% efficiency improvement.
Drawing on the success of the proven DuraPlate composite panel, the DuraPlate AeroSkirt features a unique trailer side skirt design that provides the ability to flex both inward and outward to reduce damage. The DuraPlate AeroSkirt is also distinctive in that it is easy to install, can be attached to various model trailers, and has the proven durability of the DuraPlate composite panel.
“With over 360,000 DuraPlate trailers currently on the road, our DuraPlate panel technology continues to redefine the standard by which trailers are measured in terms of strength, durability and value,” said Wabash National Chief Technology Officer Rod Ehrlich. “With the DuraPlate AeroSkirt, we’ve developed an aerodynamic solution capable of withstanding some of the most abusive applications and outperforming any competitive product in the market place today.”
