Utility’s Dry Van Plant Reaches Production Milestone

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the industry’s third largest manufacturer of dry freight vans, announced that its Paragould, Arkansas, plant reached a production milestone with its 75,000th dry van, which rolled off the assembly line in August.
The Paragould, Arkansas, plant produces the 4000D-X dry van, which accounted for over 50% of Utility’s dry van production in 2006 compared to about 5% in 2001 and was engineered to compete squarely in the thin-wall segment. In addition to its high cubic capacity and productivity, the 4000D-X offers aerodynamic enhancements, low rolling resistance tires and overall weight reduction that enabled it to be the first trailer to qualify under the specifications of the EPA’s SmartWay Partnership.
