Jan 1, 2005 12:00 PM

Engineered Support Systems Inc has received an additional $15.8 million order under its sole-source, firm-fixed price contract with the United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) at Warren MI to remanufacture M1000 Heavy Equipment Transport (HET) trailers.

The current order involves the refurbishment of 81 M1000 HET systems that had been previously deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in southwest Asia, bringing the funded value of the contract to $48.8 million for a total of 256 trailers ordered to date, according to Gerald A Potthoff, vice-chairman, chief executive officer, and president of Engineered Support.

The M1000 HET refurbishment contract calls for the company's Systems & Electronics Inc (SEI) subsidiary to remanufacture up to 1,063 M1000 HET trailers to “like new” condition at its West Plains MO manufacturing facility over the next five years. The contract includes options for up to 807 additional units over this period. Work on the 256 trailers under contract is included within the company's current revenue and earnings forecast for fiscal 2005.
