Coil trailer designed for easy side loading

The Redi-Built trailer is a coil trailer with a twist. Unlike most coil wells that run longitudinally between the frame rails, the well runs crosswise.
The 18"-deep coil well is designed specifically to haul 60,000-lb coils that are 72" in diameter. Rubber blocks are furnished to adjust the coil well to fit 48" and 60" coils. To tie down these large coils, a 12"-wide web winch is permanently mounted in the well. The web strap is rated for 65,000 pounds.
Because the coil well cuts a deep notch in the frame rails, the Redi-Built has 44"-deep main frame rails. Each rail consists of 13"-deep aluminum upper rail and 34"-deep lower rails that overlap one another three inches and secured with stainless-steel bolts.
The flatbed floor is heavy-duty aluminum with nailing strips, supported by 5"-deep 6061 T6 aluminum I-beam crossmembers on 15" centers.
The prototype Redi-Built by Chaparral was a 45-ft platform 102" wide with 10'2" spread tandem. With Intraax 250 axles, 22.5" tires, and steel wheels, the trailer had a tare weight of 11,500 pounds. Redi-Built Trailers, 800 West 79th St, Willowbrook IL 60527.
