The National Trailer Dealers Association (NTDA) has released a new logo—the result of a new branding approach that embodies the association’s fresh approach to serving its members and the semi-trailer industry as a whole.

While many organizations have downsized as a result of the recent recession, the NTDA has more than doubled its membership over the past 18 months — boasting nearly 500 independent semi-trailer dealer and trailer manufacturer members to-date. The association credits strong leadership from its Board of Directors and its new executive director with the steady growth achieved since 2010.

The NTDA has added a number of new programs and services, with more to come. In 2012, the NTDA will offer a series of training seminars, including in-depth instruction on improving parts and service department operations. The NTDA will also offers a series of 45-minute webinars on social networking and dealer fraud prevention, Federal Excise Tax, and shop operations. Webinars are offered either free-of-charge or at heavily discounted rates for members.

The NTDA will host networking receptions this year in conjunction with industry trade shows. The first reception will take place on Thursday, March 22 from 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport, in conjunction with the Mid-America Trucking Show. The NTDA will also host a reception in conjunction with Truck World Canada on Thursday, April 19 at the International Centre in Toronto, ON, Canada.

The 22nd Annual NTDA Convention, Sept. 26−28 will be held at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA. The NTDA doubled its convention attendance in 2011, and is gearing up for another successful event in 2012.
The NTDA will also provide market data resources to its members in the coming year, including a Dealer Financial Performance Survey; Dealer Compensation Survey; and a reworking of the Association’s Shop Productivity Guide, among others. These and other business tools are available from the NTDA to help dealerships manage their operations more effectively. To also help dealers more effectively manage their profitability, the NTDA partnered with LarsonAllen LLP in 2011 to offer a Federal Excise Tax (FET) Compliance Hotline. This service is free to members, and provides answers to FET questions that arise throughout the year.
