Board Votes Unanimously to Postpone 2009 NTDA Convention

April 2, 2009
The NTDA Board of Directors has voted unanimously to postpone the 2009 NTDA Convention, scheduled for Oct. 8-10 in Palm Springs, CA

The NTDA Board of Directors, recognizing that the recession makes it difficult for trailer dealers and manufacturers to spare the expense, time and resources to be away from their businesses, has voted unanimously to postpone the 2009 NTDA Convention, scheduled for Oct. 8-10 in Palm Springs, CA.

"While this was a difficult decision to make, the Board feels that it’s the best and most prudent course of action at this time," said NTDA President Elvin Spellman. "The economy is expected to improve going into 2010, and we are looking forward to welcoming back the convention next October at the same resort scheduled for 2009 (in Palm Springs) with high levels of anticipation and participation from the membership.

"We strongly believe that postponing the convention until 2010 provides members the opportunity to focus solely on their businesses and gives the NTDA the ability to ensure the 2010 convention will effectively serve our membership."

He said the NTDA recognizes that now, more than ever, member companies need to focus their energy and resources on customers and future planning. Member needs are first and foremost to the NTDA, and the association understands that businesses need to concentrate on saving money and positioning for success when the market begins to improve.

"Let me assure you that the NTDA and the Board of Directors will continue to support and serve you, upholding the association’s mission to enhance the growth and profitability of the membership," said Spellman. "As this recession persists, we anticipate that members and other industry firms will be hard-pressed to maintain historic contribution and activity levels. Please know that we are prepared to face these challenges and are implementing changes that will produce budget savings as well as help us maintain the highest level of services for you."
