Truck dealers record second-best selling month of 2011

Oct 14, 2011 9:45 AM

Used-truck retailers recorded their second best selling month of the year in August, according to a new report by the ATD/NADA Commercial Truck Guide. The average selling price of sleeper tractors also improved more than expected to levels on par with the best month of pre-recession 2008.

As of August, the average sleeper tractor sold off a dealer’s lot was just under six years old, had 523,399 miles, and sold for $48,348, according to the October issue of Guidelines: (http://www.nada.com/b2b/NADAOutlook/Guidelines.aspx).

“With August’s used truck sales numbers up more than we expected, plus an uptick in August and September new-truck orders, the truck industry is proving the economic naysayers wrong,” says Chris Visser, senior analyst with the ATD/NADA Commercial Truck Guide.
