Kinedyne, a U S-based manufacturer is now producing its line of cargo control equipment in this plant in Nantong, China.The facility includes four buildings totaling more than 200,000 square feet.Bicycles and motorcycles dominate the employee parking lot at the Kinedyne plant in Nantong.
Employers are required to provide either housing or transportation for its employees. Kinedyne operates five buses to provide a way for employees to get to work.Kinedyne now stamps the parts that used to be sourced from outside fabricators. A strip of coiled steel passes laterally through a series of dies to be shaped and sheared into individual parts.Steel wire is formed to make hooks that are installed at the end of cargo control straps. They move through this line to be heat treated in order to obtain the stiffness required. They move through the computer-controlled line in for 3½ hours.
Employing the same system used to polish stones, fabricated pieces are rotated in tumblers filled with abrasive stone for 10 hours. Once removed, the parts are clean and smooth.Computer-controlled plating line applies a zinc coating to those steel parts that require it. Environmental regulations in China have severely restricted the ability of companies to open new plating operations.Chemistry on the e-coat line is continuously monitored and adjusted.
Coiled steel is roll formed into tubing.A separate area of the new Kinedyne plant weaves cargo control straps.Ratchet assembly is a group activity.
Test lab evaluates the strength of cargo straps, winches, and other components.
