Waltco Consolidates Manufacturing Operations

Aug 29, 2008 8:45 AM

Waltco Truck Equipment Co announced it will consolidate manufacturing operations at the company’s primary manufacturing facility in Tallmadge, Ohio, also the site of company headquarters.

All warehousing of liftgates and parts along with sales operations will continue at the Gardena, California, facility without change.

Both salaries and hourly employees will be impacted by the consolidation. Waltco and union officials at the Gardena facility will be working out the details of a severance package for the bargaining unit members.

In recent years, the company has invested in new technology at the Tallmadge plant, including advances in robotic fabrication, powder-coating technology, new CNC lathes, vertical CNC machining centers and plasma-cutting capabilities. Tallmadge also is the site of the company’s engineering group.
