Truck sales down 6% in May

Franchised dealers of U.S. truck manufacturers sold 690,012 units in May 2002, according to data published by Ward's Communications -- 6.0% below sales for the month a year ago.

The biggest drops were 29.4% in Class 4 (3,823 units, down from 5,416) and 23.1% in Class 7 (7,501, down from 9,752). The biggest increase was 5.5% in Class 5 (2,546, up from 2,413).
